Does a job applicant have to provide consent to a an employer for the employer to run a background check?
Yes, according to the FCRA and certain state laws, the employer must obtain written or electronic consent from the job applicant before conducting a background check.

How do I view my report when it is completed?
You should receive a copy of your report via email. If you did not receive a copy of your report, you are welcome to contact PreciseCheck at 818.230.7885 and ask for a copy to be emailed to you, and we will send it over right away.

How long do your background checks take?
PreciseCheck has some of the fastest turnaround times in the industry, especially for County Criminal searches, many of which are completed the same day that the order is placed. On average, PreciseCheck completes background checks in two business days.  However, there are several factors that which can impact the timing of completing background checks. The two biggest factors impacting turnaround time are the County Criminal searches and Employment Verifications. County Criminal searches can take longer if the specific county being searched is a clerk led search, as the clerks will execute the search on their timeline. Employment Verifications can be completed the same day or can take several days depending upon the responsiveness of the employer.

Where does PreciseCheck search to complete its background checks?
PreciseCheck searches different sources for its various searches including County Court records, the National and State Criminal databases, the National Sex Offender Database, each state’s Department of Motor Vehicles database, the Office of Inspector General database, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control database, just to name a few.

How should I prepare for my background check?
You will be provided a Consumer Report Packet which includes a Disclosure form, an Authorization form, and a form titled Information Regarding Your Rights. You will need to sign off on these forms before the background check will be executed. The signatures can either be done online, or manually if the forms were emailed to you. You will also be given ‘A Summary of Your Rights Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act’, which is just for you to read. Most packages will require you to enter your full name, current address, date of birth and social security number. Many packages will also require you to provide your driver’s license number, employment history, and educational history. For your employment history, you will be asked to provide the company name, location, phone number, your position/title, your start date, and your end date. For your educational history, you will be asked for the name of the school, location, your degree earned, your major, and your graduation date.

Is my employer obligated to provide me with a copy of my background check report?
If you ask your employer or PreciseCheck for a copy of your background check report, both parties are obligated to provide you with a copy.

Is my employer allowed to share my background check report with another employer?
No, your employer is not allowed to share your background check report with any third party unless your have provided your employer authorization to do so in writing.

What should I do if I disagree with something on my background check report?
You should notify both your employer and PreciseCheck of exactly what you disagree with in writing via email. Please also contact PreciseCheck at 818.230.7885 to discuss your dispute and we will be happy to address any of your questions you may have regarding the dispute process.

Where will I go for my drug test and what should I bring with me?
The address, hours of operation, and phone number of the drug testing center will be listed on the donor pass you will receive via email, once the drug test has been scheduled. The expiration date for when you can take the test will also be on the donor pass, so be sure to take your test before it expires. The items you need to bring to the drug testing center are your donor pass, and legal proof of your identity such as your driver’s license or passport.
